FRONT GARDEN

There are three planting zones in the front garden borders: The rear that’s against the building, the sides, and the narrow bed between the sidewalk and the steps. The thought is to plant taller shrubs against the building, perhaps with low grasses in front of them; grasses along the sides, and flowers along the front strip.

These are all relatively drought-resistant and low maintenance, and not expensive to buy.

If anyone is a secret gardener and/or has thoughts on these plants or suggestions for others, please email the Board

California Milkweed

This is the only plant that the native Monarch butterflies can lay their eggs on. Their recent scarcity is why we see so few butterflies now. It’s not the prettiest plant, but it will attract lots and lots of butterflies.
