STAIR CARPETS

It’s no secret that the carpets are old and dirty, and let down the whole vibe of the building. Replacing them will not just be good for our mental health, but will substantially raise the value of every unit in the building.

Replacing them is going to cost approximately $7,000. That includes the cost of the carpet itself, removal and disposal of the old stuff, fitting the new carpet and raising the level of the ground floor landings so that water from the courtyard does not get in and stain the new carpets. We have quotes from three vendors, all around the same price.

At the same time, we’ll probably throw some color on the landing walls to make the space less drab, and retouch any existing paint that needs it. Derek and Clif painted all the walls and handrails a couple of years ago, so they just need some spot repair.

The carpet we are suggesting is this one.

We have left the sample book in the laundry room if you would like to see it in person.
